Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block
Mission Statement : The Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block (TMA) connects art to life; inspiring discovery, creativity, and cultural understanding through meaningful, engaging experiences.
The museum is the region’s oldest and largest visual arts institution and cares for over 9,000 objects in its permanent collection, as well as five historic properties on its campus. It serves as a valuable resource for the community with exhibitions of locally and nationally significant artworks, publications, community partnerships, and life-long learning opportunities. TMA also offers a variety of programs for K-12 students to learn about art, history, and culture both in the galleries and in the classroom. Much of this programming is provided at no cost to participants.
The 2018-2019 season marks the institution?s 95th Anniversary and will put a spotlight on TMA?s deep roots in the community. The anniversary season will also include the groundbreaking of the Kasser Family Wing, made possible by a donation from I. Michael Kasser and his wife Beth. The new wing will add 6,000 sq. ft. of gallery space for the exhibition of pre-Columbian and Latin American art. TMA is a 501(c)(3) private, non-profit organization dedicated to the educational, aesthetic, and cultural promotion of the arts.
