Wild Horses

“This photo was taken by the Salt River in Tonto National Forest. These horses are wild, and there are several hundred of them in this area,” says photographer Leslie Leathers. Her friend Richard Simonsen, another photographer, states that the best time to view the horses is within two to three hours of sunrise or sunset. “They generally are quite active and are looking for a drink in the river. Finding them can be tricky, as different bands roam over a relatively large area.”
