Desert Nachos

Makes 2-4 servings

It was inevitable that the omnipresent tortilla chip would make its way into desserts. These sweet baked flour tortilla triangles are served as a stand-alone dessert and are also frequently used as a pretty garnish for ice cream sundaes. They are a great way to use up flour tortillas that are on the verge of drying out.

8 to 10 (6-inch) flour tortillas Vegetable oil cooking spray

2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder

2 Tbsp. cinnamon sugar

1/2 cup prepared caramel or chocolate sauce, warmed

1 cup mini chocolate chips

1 cup chopped candied nuts, such as walnuts, almonds, or pecans

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Using a pizza cutter, cut the flour tortillas into triangles or free-form shapes. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Mist lightly with the oil spray, then sprinkle generously on both sides with cocoa powder and cinnamon sugar. Bake until brown and crispy, 10 to 12 minutes.

Transfer the baked tortilla pieces to a large platter and drizzle with the warm caramel sauce. Sprinkle with the mini chocolate chips and candied nuts and serve warm.
