Anne Gratz – cello

Anne Gratz’s diverse performing schedule has taken her from China to Lincoln Center, with Tucson’s Hotel Congress and elementary school cafeterias in between. She is the principal cellist of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, True Concord Voices and Orchestra, and the Tucson Pops Orchestra. Anne is also a member of the Tucson Symphony String Quartet, with whom she performs for over 10,000 local elementary school students annually. She has also performed with St. Andrews Bach Society, ChamberLab, Artifact Dance Project, Broadway in Tucson, Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and Texas Festival Orchestra. Anne has been a part of a wide range of recordings, including True Concord’s Grammy-nominated album Far in the Heavens, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s first commercial recording, and Calexico’s Algiers. Her recent career highlights include a 9/11 memorial concert in New York City at Alice Tully Hall with True Concord Voices and Orchestra and her Tucson Symphony Orchestra concerto debut with Tan Dun’s Crouching Tiger Concerto.
Anne maintains a full private cello studio in Tucson and has worked as a teacher and clinician with many local schools and music programs including Pima Community College, Tucson Junior Strings, and Chamber Music in the Mountains. A native of Indiana, Anne graduated as valedictorian from Interlochen Arts Academy and received Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees and an Orchestral Studies Diploma from Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Alan Harris.
