This year, Jane Hamilton is marking her 25th anniversary as a gallery owner. In her Plaza Colonial gallery — Jane Hamilton Fine Art — she represents traditional, contemporary, Southwestern and abstract styles of paintings, sculpture, bronze and glass. She strongly believes that art has the power to lift a spirit, create a mood and enhance a home or workplace. “Color can be healing,” she notes, “and helps to keep a culture alive that is vibrant in its creativity and its expression. I chose to represent these inspired artists as my life’s work.” The gallery provides hanging service, and art can be brought to the customer’s home for approval before purchase.

Hamilton began in the business as an art dealer in Taos, New Mexico, in 1979. In 1992 she opened her own gallery in Bisbee, then moved it to Tucson in 2001. After doing business at several locations, she found the perfect venue in 2009 at the southwest corner of Campbell Avenue and Skyline Drive in Plaza Colonial.

She is extremely grateful for the artists and loyal collectors who support her gallery, as well as her great friend and now-husband, landscape artist Tom Murray.

Tips & Trends:
• Choose art that speaks to you. The aesthetic value will enhance your life. If the work increases in value over time, that’s a bonus.
• Art aficionados new to our city will notice that Tucson’s architecture — with its preponderance of windows — and quality of light may affect the choice of art for their new home.
