The University of Arizona School of Art Advisory Board is pleased announce their live drawing event and fundraiser, Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the award winning  The Independent Distillery, 33 S. Arizona Avenue.
The Live Drawing Atelier program will feature drawing instruction from the UA School of Art headed by Professor Alfred Quiroz and Associate Professor Larry Gipe, live models, drawing kits donated by Sarnoff Artist Materials that can be purchased at a discount, artisanal libations and appetizers, and more surprises.
At the turn of the century, Ateliers were an effective way and place for a master artist to gain popularity with students and apprentices while simultaneously providing a social setting for common interests. Today, live drawing has become a world movement again, in part due to tablet burnout.
Drawing lessons will be in two 45-minute sessions: one at 5:45 p.m., one at 6:45 p.m. Drawing kits are available for purchase or, if you prefer, you may bring your own drawing pad and utensils. Those who choose to observe rather than participate in the drawing activity are most welcome to mingle and enjoy the venue, libations, and appetizers.
The Independent Distillery - Tucson's 2016 "Cocktail Bar of the Year" and "Cocktail Bartender of the Year" (Tyler Dunn) award winner - is located at 33 S. Arizona Avenue in Tucson's downtown historical quadrant (across from the Ronstadt Transit Center). Wine, beer, and a complimentary "Artist's Alchemy" cocktail created by their award-winning mixologist will be served along with savory appetizers by Johnny Gibson's Catering.
$80 entry fee includes appetizers and 2 drink tickets.
First time attendees to a School of Art Advisory Board event pay $68 (15% discount).
Drawing kits: $10 at the event, a $20 value.
UA RED artists' aprons: 100% cotton duck, $20 at the event.
