The June presentation will focus on mental health.  Did you know that in 2016, Mental Health America’s annual State of Mental Health Report ranked Arizona last in the nation for the state’s high prevalence of mental illness and low access to mental healthcare?  According to experts, Arizona’s mental health issues stem from a decided lack of resources.  Mental health is a public health issue and an issue that will only continue to grow if people continue to ignore it.

A National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) spokesperson will present “Mental Health 101” and answer the questions you may be too embarrassed to ask in larger settings.  Take advantage of this opportunity.

NAMI is a non-profit, grassroots organization providing no-cost advocacy, education, and support to those affected by mental illnesses.  NAMI of Southern Arizona has been helping individuals with mental illness and their families since 1983.

The Speaker Series is designed to provide speakers on current social issues.  It aims to provide the public access to subject matter experts dealing with these issues.

Come and listen, question what you hear.  Please attend the Quarterly Speaker Series, June 21st, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., in Matt’s Place.

The Episcopal Church of St. Matthew is located at 9071 E. Old Spanish Trail.  Directions and more information can be found at http://stmatthew.azdiocese.org/.  Please contact Larry Waggoner at 520-329-9739 for more information.
